DAY ADVENTURES INFORMATION:
*For all day adventures and camps drop off will be at the AYR Motor Centre from 8:00-8:30am, and pick up will be at the AYR Motor Centre from 5:00-5:30pm.
Community van: For programs, events, and trips that the recreation department provides transportation, youth participating must be 9 or older. For some programs participants are still able to register as long as transportation is arranged personally, and not through the recreation department.
A Day on the Water: Thursday, June 29th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 11-14yrs. Only 15 spots available! We will be driving in a van up the river valley to Florenceville-Bristol area where we will hike the Shiktehawk Stream Trail in the morning. For lunch, we will head to the Doghut canteen where kids will have the option of purchasing lunch for $10, or they can bring their own lunch to eat along the riverside. After lunch, we put in our canoes/kayaks across from the canteen, and paddle to Hartland. After a day of adventure, we will return to the AYR Motor Centre for 5 pm. We must have a parent sign the Riverview Outfitters waiver before a child can go on this trip. Items to Bring: change of clothes, towel, lunch or money for lunch, snacks, sunscreen, water, bug spray, sunglasses, hat, sneakers, waiver. Cost: $55.
Canada 150 Camping Celebration: Thursday, July 6th, 8 am – Friday, July 7th, 5:30 pm. For youth ages 9-13yrs. Only 12 spots available! At 8:30 am, we will load up the van, and head to Hartt Island Campground for Thursday and Friday. Upon arrival, we will venture out on a voyageur canoe (14 person canoe) trip with Second Nature Outdoors. We will stop and have lunch at an island in the Saint John River, and continue to downtown Fredericton. We will be bussed back to the campground where we will set up our site, and enjoy an afternoon of waterslides and mini golf. In the evening, we will have a campfire and roast some hot dogs and marshmallows. The next morning, we will pack up and enjoy the rest of the day with more local activities and games! Items to Bring: packed lunch for Thursday, tent (if have one), sleeping bag, pillow, sneakers, bathing suit, towel, extra clothes, sweater, bug spray, hat, sunscreen, pajamas, toiletries, water bottle. Exploring the Wilderness: Thursday, July 13th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 9-12yrs. Only 15 spots available! In the morning, we will practice archery skills at the Woodstock Archery Club. Then we will head to Red Bridge to the Meduxnekeag Trails where we will have a guided trek through the orange and yellow trails. To end the day, we will go geocaching around town. Items to Bring: Sneakers, water, lunch, snacks, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray. Cost: $40.
The Ultimate Survivor: Friday, July 14th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 12-15yrs. Only 15 spots available! At 8:30 we will head out to Megiddo paintball located between Florenceville-Bristol and Perth. While there we will play attack the tank, defend the fort, and cops and robbers in the village of alderville. We will return to Woodstock at lunch time, and spend the afternoon on the trail behind Dairy Queen where we will learn survival skills like fire-starting and shelter-building. Need a parent signed waiver to go to paintball. Items to Bring: Clothes that cover whole body and are thick (sweater and pants), sneakers, hat, baseball cap, lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray. Helmets are provided, but can rent more gear at an extra cost. Also, may want to bring an extra $10 in case paintballs included in the cost run out. Cost: $55.
Wet and Wild: Thursday, July 27th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 11-14. Only 15 spots available! At 8:30 we will head up the river valley for the day. The morning will be spent exploring local outdoor pools, parks, and trails, and we will head to the Doghut canteen for lunch. Kids have the option of buying their lunch for $10, or they can bring a lunch. After lunch beside the river, we will travel up river to put in the tubes and float/paddle back to the Doghut. If time permits we will end our day at Connell Park. Items to Bring: Bathing suit, towel, sneakers, sandals, water, lunch or money, snacks, signed waiver form, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen. Cost: $55.
Woodstock Youth Angler’s Club: Friday, Aug 3rd, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 11-16 yrs. Limited spots available! At 8:30 we will head down to the river. The day will begin with learning the proper casting technique, once the basic skills have been mastered youth will fish at local spots on the Meduxnekeag River. After lunch, we will venture out onto the water for the afternoon to explore local hot spots for different types of local fish. Items to Bring: Athletic clothing, bathing suit, towel, water, lunch, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, hat. Cost: $45.
Just Hanging Around: Thursday, Aug 10th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 12-16 yrs. Only 15 spots available! Participants must be able to reach 5’11” with their fingertips. At 8:30 we will head out to TreeGO Mactaquac. We will be hanging and zipping through the trees from 10am to lunch time. We will have lunch at TreeGO, then venture to Mactaquac beach where we will swim and play for the afternoon. Items to Bring: Athletic clothing, bathing suit, towel, water, lunch, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, hat. Cost: $75.
Chasing Waterfalls: Thursday, Aug 17th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 9-15 yrs. 15 spots available. At 8:30 we will head out in the van to find as many local waterfalls as we can before we have to be back at 5pm. This will involve hiking and exploring through the trails and woods in the upper river valley region. Items to Bring: Athletic clothing, sneakers, water, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, lunch, snacks. Cost: $35.
Science and Nature Exploration: Thursday, Aug 24th, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 9-12 yrs. 15 spots available. At 8:30 we will head out to Science East in Fredericton. Their leaders will give as a science-filled demonstration, followed by some exploring of the centre. After Science East we walk across the river (via the walking bridge) to have lunch at Carleton Park. After lunch we will walk a little further to the Ducks Unlimited Conservation Centre to learn about identifying animal tracks and scat. Items to Bring: Sneakers, lunch, snacks, water, sunscreen, hat. A Day in the Life of an Artist: Thursday, Aug 31st, 8 am-5:30 pm. For youth ages 9-15 yrs. Only 13 spots available! At 8:30 we will head to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery where we will have a guided tour, followed by an interactive art activity. We will have lunch on the green in downtown Fredericton, and in the afternoon, we will go to Clay Café to create your own masterpiece!
